Half Marathon

START 6:30 am

The Half Marathon will take you on a unique Tour of Town! Run from downtown Fort Collins to a corridor of nature that cuts through the city on a peaceful path along the Cache la Poudre River. Travel among historic neighborhoods, past a whitewater park, through the brewery district, and over and under bridges to a loop around the Prospects Ponds on a tree-lined course offering a choice of paved path or crushed gravel for much of the course.

HALF MARATHON COURSE

2025 Human Race Half Marathon – New Course Overview

The 2025 Human Race Half Marathon debuts an all-new course that captures the spirit of Fort Collins with a blend of charming streets, riverside paths, and tranquil trail running. The race starts and finishes on iconic Mountain Avenue at the intersection of Mountain & Howes.

From the start line, runners head west on Mountain Avenue before turning right onto Sherwood Street, descending gradually toward Martinez Park. There, you’ll connect a short loop of the Hickory Trail to the Poudre Trail near College Avenue.

The route continues east, tracing the river through lush greenways and open space until reaching the serene Prospect Ponds. A loop around the water’s edge—including a short stretch of packed dirt trail—offers a peaceful interlude before turning back toward downtown.

Though the course is largely flat, the first half features a net descent of approximately 227 feet over 6.5 miles—making for a fast and flowing start. But save some energy: you’ll gradually climb those same feet on the return trip to the finish.

Expect a warm welcome and lively celebration as you cross the finish line on Mountain Avenue and earn your well-deserved finisher medal.

Time Limit: 3.5 hrs
There is a time limit of 3.5 hours. This is an average pace of ~16:00 minutes per mile for the Half Marathon.

Due to course logistics, safety, and course support, participants should plan on finishing no later than 10:00 am. Participants not reaching the finish area in this amount of time choose to become a pedestrian following all traffic laws to finish the race.
